On State Convention

Eugene N. Beard, Luray, candidate for Delegate to the Virginia Constitutional Convention, March 5, from the 23rd Senatorial District, has issued a statement that should he be chosen as a delegate in the election to be held on Tuesday, February 21, he will cosponsor a Resolution before the Convention which if adopted would condemn the actions of the General Assembly in their Special Session when they successfully made a “rubber stamp” of the Constitutional Convention and that he would at the proper time move that the Convention be recessed for two weeks—when the General Assembly will have completed its work in, Richmond.

Beard stated that any attempt by members of the General Assembly to influence the Convention should be treated ,as contempt and that the phrasing of the amendment should be given full and serious consideration exclusively by the delegates .elected.

Beard is an Independent, and the first of three candidates filing from the 23rd Senatorial District, which comprises Page, Warren, Rappahannock, Rockingham, and the City of Harrisonburg.
