Miss Phyllis Hudson, who attended the Virginia Leadership Training Camp at Camp Farrar, Virginia Bead), August 25-28, returned Sunday eyening “a bit tired”, for they Veep on the go at camp, but much impressed with the work being dope there. Phyllis attended camp op an award made by the Rappahannock Chapter Farm Bureau.

It is interesting to note that our sleeping quarters were originally built to house1 displaced prisoners of war during and after World War II. Each cabin would accommodate 8 persons, however, we had cnly 7 in ours4—3 from Rappahannock; 1 from Fauquier; 2 from Stafford and J from Augusta.

The weathet wasn’t ideal during our stay at Virginia Beach since we only had sunshine the day we left, Sunday. The temperature was about 70 in the day and much cooler at night, necessitating sweaters or heavier clothing. Ip spite of the unfavorable weather, everyone enjoyed the water and'beach for it was only a walk of 2 blocks.

The food was appetizing and bountiful. Three times daily 176 persons were Seated in the dining hall. Of thes^ 176 persons, 101 were attending the 4-H camp and the remaining 75 persons were members of a football squad from Norfolk training there.

Miss Kitty Rogers lead the group in recreational activities each night, dancing, games, etc. Miss Angelica Simmons, International Foreign Youth Exchange, to Switzerland, gave a most informative talk on her trip to Switzerland and had slides to show of the homes she visited and their customs and dress. She said that (they think Americans are; a yery lazy people who have servants, dishwashers, and all modern conveniences, who do nothing but Sit all day. These people, she said,1 “spring clean” every week, ajnd keep everything immaculate. They sweep their barnyards and;have flowers everywhere, even in pots on the‘barn roof, as show jn the slides.
