James B. Pullen, who for many jears has been a resident of Culpeper County, in the Griffinsburg neighborhood, died on Wednesday, August 24, at the Culpeper Memorial Hospital following a short illness due to a cerebral hemorrhage
He was born and raised in Rappahannock County and was the son of the late Robert and the late Quarilla Bolen Pullen, moving to Culpeper County during his early life. He was 78 years of age.
He was twice married. From his former marriage to Miss Sally Weaver, he leaves 8 children who are Albert Pullen, Ray, Roy, Charlie, and iEarl Pullen, residing in the county near Rixevville, Va.
The daughters are Mrs. Maude Sours of.Rixevville, Mrs. Virginia Labor, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Bessie Keyser, Culpeper.
His second marriage was to the former Miss Lillian Smith and leaves 2 sonsjames Billy Pullen of Stevensburg and Willis A. Pullen of Boston. Va. Also 48 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He leaves 2 brothers and one sister who are Clarence Pullen of Culpeper, Eddie Pullen of Reva and Mrs. Lyle Keyser of Riveyville.
The funeral services were held on Friday evening at the Geest Funeral Chapel with burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Donald Buchanan, pastor of the Salem Baptist Church, conducted the service.
The pallbearers were Cova Bailey. Clyde Bailey, Albert Dodson, John Baldwin, Thomas Baldwin, Ralph Pullen, and Ellis Pullen.
