The Woman’s Missionary Society of the Washington Baptist Church held its September meeting on Tuesday with twelve members present.
l'he program was varied, but all of the topics were taken from the Srx'ietCs official magazine. Royal Service. Church publications of other denominations were used to supplement and they all seemed to he in perfect accord. Meaningful words, "Freedom’, “Liberty;", “Stewardship”, especially t^e “Stewardship of Words” were used as the subjects for short talks by members of the society.
In the talk of “Freedom” a letter from Governor Nelson Rockefeller was read, (quote) “Whatever our faith or sectarian denomination, all forms of worship have but one goal and that is finding the road to God.
A distinguished and enlightened clergyman has compared.the different religions of our country to the 'pokes of a wheel.They all end in the hub .It is a most appropriate thought. If any spokes are damaged or broken the entire wheel is weakened and eventually collapses. By the same token, if we allow the members of any faith or denomination to suffer discrimination, we weaken the entire fabric of our American system.
The most potent single factor in the growth of our country to become the great bulwark of human liberty it is today, is our freedom to worship according to the guidance of our heart and conscience.
It is the font and origin of all our freedoms. In America we never forger that all freedom comes from (iod Himself."
