Edgar F. Shannon, Jr., President of tne University of Virginia, will address the Northern Virginia Chapter of the University of Virginia Alumni Association at its winter meeting to be held at the Winchester Golf Club on Thursday,. Fcbiuary 23 at 6:30 p.m. All alumni from Rappahannock County are members of the Chapter.
Born in Lexington, Va., where his father was a professor at Washington Ac Lee University, Dr. Shannon was graduated from Washington & Lee and received an A. M. degree from Harvard and a Ph. degree from Oxford, where he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. Dr. Shannon, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, is an author as well as a recognized Tennyson scholar.
