Whether or not they believed )hat their wishes would tome true, millions o; tourists who have visited Luray Caverns, Va., have wished and tossed a coin in the “Wishing Well.”
We shall never know the results of those wishes, but we do know that the coins are making many health wishes come true—.wishes of countless people who look to health organizations fur solutions of their health problems. Health organizations like the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis and the American Cancer Society have shared in the treasure of the Wishing Well in past years.
This j ear, a check for $14,218.86 has gone to the American Heart Association which in turn presented it to the Virginia Heart Association. This check represented more than a half a million coiR) dropped into the Wishing Well during a 3-year period by over a million visitors to Luray Caverns. The check was accepted for Heait by 7-year-old Debbie and Donna Horst of Philadelphia, the 1961 Heart Fund Sweethearts for the campaign this month. These little girls are identical blond twins who experienced successful heart surgery or. the same day.
