Mrs. Minor Botts Lewis, Jr. of Spei ryville, Va. has made available to the Rappahannock News, through one of its corespondents, a number of aid iicwsjjapers of the Civil War period. Several are dated 1859. >
The paper, yellow with age but in fair condition, were among the papers of Mrs. Lewis’ husband’s grandfather, the late D. S. Lewis of Auburn, Culpeper County, who at one lime published a paper in Harrisonburg, Va.
Among die papeis; carefully saved for over a hundred years are: Daily Richmond Examiner; Daily Dispatch, published jn Richmond. Morning News; Richmond Daily Whig; the Daily Richmond Enquirer and the Virginia Citizens, Harrisonburg, Va. .
Much of interest concerning die "tragic era” is recorded, and die Rappahannock News will from time to time reprint some of the articles, feeling sure they will be :njoyed by its readers.
