Appear In Play
Keith Brockman, former school teacher here, who boarded with Mrs. Alice Verner, will appear in “The Anvil”, a two-act play by Julia Davis about the trial of John Brown. It will be presented in Charles Town, W. Va. Saturday night, August 5 in the Jefferson County Courthouse, the actual site of Brown’s trial in 1859.
Charles Wood is serving as producer for the historical drama and has lined up a cast linked through ancestors of participants in the original trial.
Keith Brockman is the greaterandson of the original jailer, Capt. John Avis, to whom John Brown willed his silver watch (to be used in the play) He will have the role his ancestor created in real life.
