Housing Bill Makes
Benefits Available
The omnibus housing bill signed by the President on June 30 makes the following benefits available to roral families:
1. Approximately $430 million will be available to the Farmers Home Administration during the next four years for housing loans.
2. Eligibility has been broadened" • to include families living in rural areas who are not farmers.
3. Does not require taking a real estate mortgage on small improve- _ ment loans and permits making a farm housing loan without taking the entire farm as security. This should result in less c6st and delay in making these loans.
4. Loans are available on an insured basis for housing and related facilities to farm owners, farmer associations, state and local government units, and non profit associations for housing domestic farm labor.
5. Under certain conditions building loans can be made to farm renters.
