We Americans seem to need an official “week” each year to remind us of things we really should practice every week of the year.

There’s nothing wrong with the idea of official “weeks” but all too often many of us substitute a week of emphasis for a whole years practice.

There are indeed, so many phases of farm safety that to try to encompass all in a particular program of emphasis would result in a watered down program in which no real education took place. It is actually through education that the most satisfying results can be obtained. *

This year, 1961, the National Safety Council, working with other civic minded groups, has chosen Rural Highway Safety and Safety with Farm Machinery (other than tractors) for areas upon which to concentrate.
