Also realizing our calf sale in 1959 was second top price sale in the state at $30.57 per hundred weight we questioned the $34.00 published as the receiving price. The rancher reported: “In 1959 our calves brought $35.72 on steers, $$32.81 on heifers or an average of $34.44 cwt. This is j net.” Whew! He beat us by $3.87 j a hundred weight; or around j $17.00 a head! Our calves would probably shrink 20 lbs. on the average haul ... his must have had a 50 lb. greater shrink to get such a price.

Our top earning ability (of men that is) comes between 45 and 54 years. Those completing 8th grade earn $600 more per year than those dropping out of school ini 5th.or 6th grades.
