Civil Defense Plan
Virginia has issued a survival plan in case of attack or disaster. The governor is director of Civil
n a s
e Defense. Each county and city is directed to form a local p|an of operation for the survival of its citizens; to advise, inform, and direct such activities in the public interest. E. M. Jones is director of Rappahannock county.
Our. region is known as the ' North Central. Before April 1, j 1962, a crew of 14 consulting en; gineers will visit Rappahannock to ! make a survey of existing buildings in the county which could shelter at least 50 persons, and storage j space for food, water containers, medical supplies, etc., for their use. Owners of such property will be asked to grant entrance permits, for the purposes of the survey. This permission does not obligate the owner to make available space in the building for marking and stocking, and if the building becomes a shelter, it may return to owners control after ninty days notice.
Mrs. A. C. Latham and the Rappahannock News have pledged to help inform the public on the vital subject of protection, and survival.
