Better Crops, Larger

Income With

Improved Soil

Better crops and larger income usually start with improved soil. Lime is one of the basic materials in a program of 9oil improvement. You cannot look, at your soil and tell if it’s deficient in lime but poor crops would indicate that the proper food supply was not available.

Now is die tine of year to not only plan your crop rotation program but to take soil samples of your fields and determine what plant foods and materials are needed for the crops to be grown. Acid soil won’t give best crop results regardless of how much fertilizer is used. Plant nutrients become less available as acidity increases. Using too little lime where k is needed is one of our most common errors. If lime is to be used, it would give better results if it was applied 3 to 4 months prior to maturity of the crop. Because of this, early application would be desirable.
