OLD SOUTH SAUSAGE PIE 1 pound pork sausage meat 1 cup chopped celery .Vj cup chopped onion Vi cup chopped green pepper \'i teaspoon salt
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
(about 1 cup)
1 1-pound can kidney beans,
not drained (about 2 cups)
Cheese Puffs
Brown sausage meat in heavy skillet. Drain off excess fat. Add celery, onion, green pepper and salt. Brown lightly. Add tomato sauce and beans to meat mixture, mixing well. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Pour into 1% -quart casserole and top with Cheese Puffs. Bake in hot oven (450°F.) 25 to 30 minutes or until Cheese Puffs are golden brown.;
CHEESE PUFFS 2 tablespoons shortening 1 cup sifted enriched selfVl cup shredded American rising flour
cheese \\ cup milk
Cut or rub shortening and cheese into flour until mixture Is crumbly. Add milk, mixing until flour is moistened. Drop by tablespoonfuls around edge of casserole. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
