Are you age 62 or older and still working? Have you ever checked to see if you might be eligible to receive social security benefits? Have you ever applied for social security benefits and been turned down because you had not worked long enough under social security ? If so, you may now be eligible for payments because of last year’s change in the law. Mr. Stanley B. Earl, Manager of the Alexandria District Office, urges you to contact your local social security office regarding recent changes in the Social Security Act.
Men may now choose to have their benefits begin as soon as they reach 62. However, just as in the case of a woman worker, a man who decides to take nis benefits between the ages of 62 and 65 will get less per month than he would have received at tihe age of 65. This works out so that a man who takes his benefits as soon as he beoomes 62 will receive 80% of the monthly benefit he would have received had he waited until he was 65.
