Struck By Lightning
Charles Jeffries, 27, of Nokesville, who was recently struck by lightning, is recovering from severe burns on most of his body and is in an isolation room at Fairfax Hospital. Mr. Jeffries was dozing in his bed when the charge struck. The head of his steel bed was near an open window and an electric fan was also nearby.
“It hit me with a big jolt right | in the stomach and my nightshirt I started blazing,” he said. He ran
| from his bungalo, pounding the | flames with his hand and rolled on the grass until he extinguished the flames. Then he ran next-door to the home of his sister, who ran ' about a half mile to call an ambui lance. Mr. Jeffries was given a j shot to ease the pain at the Medij cal Center in Manassas and taken: to Fairfax Hospital. Doctors expect him to recover with skin grafting. He is kept in isolation ' because the burns are highly susceptible to infection.
