Out Montana way research involving 1589 head of- beef .cows and 7,619 potentially productive cow years it has been revealed that if a heifer failed to produce during the first breeding season^ she was a poor preformer during subsequent years. Heifers that failed to calve during the first breeding season had a lifetime record of only 54.9% while those calving the first year had an 86.8% calf crop during their lifetime.
Trends developed indicated when range cows reached 10 years of age, the calf crop was reduced by approximately 10% and was drastically reduced at 11 years of I age. Wonder what trend the. influence of age would be in this part 1 of the U. S. ?
