Sen. Byrd Endorses Marsh For 7th Congressional Seat

United States Senator Harry P. Byrd today endorsed John 0. Marsh, Jr. as “well qualified” to represent the Seventh District in the House of Representatives.

Mr. Marsh is the Democratic nominee, having won the July Primary. He is seeking the seat of Representative Burr P. Harrison, who is retiring from public office.

Commenting on his endorsement of Mr. Marsh. Senator Byrd said he had communicated his support to the nominee a few days after the primary.

"As a citizen of the Seventh District, I will vote for Jack Marsh and support him in his candidacy to be my Congressman.”

‘"He is a man with a broad background that qualifies him in my opinion for this post. His many accomplishments at his age attest to his ability.”

“An attorney, he has had experience in the State and Federal Courts as well as working with governmental agencies. Practicing in a rural area, he has become acquainted with many of the problems confronting rural citizens and is aware of their needs.”

“As Policy Judge, Town Attorney and former school board member, he has acquired a working knowledge of governmental affairs.”
