Mr. Marsh made this acknowledgment: “I am honored highly by Senator Robertson’s generous words. His distinguished service to Virginia has been marked by militant dedication to the principles of limited and frugal government. In both House and Senate, his soundness, vigor and perception were recognized quickly by membership on the committees charged with major responsibilities for federal fiscal policy. Virginia is fortunate —as is the Nation—to have him on guard today as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee a^d of the Joint Congressional Committee on Defense production. If elected to Congress, my best offorts will be exerted to merit his confidence.”
As he continues to crisscross the 7th Congressional District in the informal, ‘“person-toperson” campaigning he enjoys, Jack Marsh now has the public endorsement of Virginia’s Senators and the Representative in Congress he hopes to succeed. If he is elected on Nov. 6, he will have all three as constituents, as all reside and vote in this Congressional District — Senator Harry F. Byrd at Berryville, Senator Robertson at Lexington, and Representative Harrison at Winchester.
In addition to their like views on a sound dollar and a balanced federal budget, Mr. Marsh and Senator Robertson had other things in common during their recent talk. Both are attorneys having particular familiarity with the problems of business, and both are “majors.” Longtime friends still address Senator Robertson by his World War I rank. Mr. Marsh, a World War II veteran, holds the same rank, in the Virginia National Guard.
