Plan Forestry Drive

The governors of the seven Tennessee Valley states joined with the Tennessee Valley Authority at the recent Southern Governors Conference in Hollywood, Florida, to launch a seven-year campaign to reforest their respective states in the interest of industrial development.

Under the slogan “Plant Trees—Grow Jobs,” the governors pledged “the combined efforts of the several state governments to complete the job of planting 13 million acres in seven years.”

Chairman A. J. Wagner, meeting with the governors at the Florida conference, announced TVA’s cooperation in the drive.
