Mr. Charles Suddith of the Northern Virginia Power Com* pany was introduced by Mrs/ Dorothy Hawkins when he ap* peared before the Town Council Washington, Va. on Tuesday night to explain the function and costs of more efficient lighting. It was unanimously passed to authorize the North* ern Virginia Power Company to make a survey and bring their recommendations to the next meeting for consideration for light improvement.
The existing lights cost $1.25 each per month while newer types giving from to 6 times as much lumination would cost from $1.80 to $3.20 each. The current bill runs around $52.00 monthly and would be increased according to the lighting adopted.
Mrs. B. R. Armel was appointed to secure a lease on a new dumping site as Mr. A. H. Keyser had notified the town that1 he would not renew the lease to dump on his property. Mrs. Armel reported to the mayor> the next morning that she had secured a ten year le§se for a town dumping site from Everett Estes for the sum of $250.00, as authorized.
Other business was routine except for the discussion of the parking situation in the Court Square. Mrs. B. M. Miller waa appointed to contact the Board of Supervisors about creating a parking lot in the Court House , yard for County employees, in order to relieve the congestion.
