Plans are going forward and organization is well under way for the Historical Exhibit to be held at the Rappahannock Library on July 4th. Everyone is cordially invited to take time from the rush of present day events to view an interesting display of memorabilia pertinent to this area. In addition to material found available and offered by residents of the area a search in the Map Department at the National Archives yielded several maps of this region prior to 1820. Photostatic copies of these valuable records were made and will be on display. Material found ^t the Libraty of Congress is also expected to be exhibited. Anyone who is able and willing to supply further material toward the success of the Exhibit please contact Mrs. B. M. Miller, BY MAIL, or call the News Office - 675-3349. And don’t forget the invitation to view the luminari display and fireworks at Avon Hall which can be done from the area below the Town marker, and other vantage points.
Reception and Shower for Rev. and Mrs. Sorrells
A reception and miscellaneous shower will be held at the Washington Baptist Church, Monday, July 1 at 8 p.m. honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Arnold Sorrells. All members of the congregation and Sunday School Classes are urged to attend and take this opportunity to welcome their new minister and his family.
