Annual Germanna Reunion Scheduled For July 21
j The seventh annual reunion i of the Governor Alexander | Spotswood’s Germanna coloj nists has been set to be held l Sunday, July 21, commencing | at 10 o'clock a.m, at Siegon Forest, Germanna Ford on the Rapidan River. An attendance of several hundred is expected.
The morning hour will be devoted to registration, renewal of memberships, mingling with friends and relatives, also examination of sketches and publications, as well as suggestions in writing for future programs.
Prof. Claude L. Yowell of Madison County will -to e speaker of the day on the subject, “Significant Contributions of the Second Colony to the Religious, Industrial, and Educational Welfare of the Community and the Nation.”
Charles H. Huffman, presii dent of the Foundation will briefly review highlights of the Germann Saga as well as progress of the organization.
Picnic lunches will be served fr6m 12;30 to 3:30. Interested perons are invited to bring a picnic basket and join others around a family table.
In case of rain the event ] will be staged the following | Sunday on July 28. i Substantial progress has | been made in restoration of 1 the grounds with the object l of making it a park. Included i is a pavilion near the | entrance, as well as trails i and roads over the grounds.
! Since organization seven i years ago the Germanna Society has sponsored several publications having to do with ; the personnel of Spotswood’s ; colonies and their genealogy.
