Fire Contests Held
At Amissville
Warrenton, Marshall and Catlett fire companies competed In fire contests Saturday afternoon at Amissville carnival grounds.Contests included the extinguishing of pit and target fires and a dressing contest. Amissville junior firemen participated but did not compete.
The pit fire contest was won by Warrenton firemen with time clocked at 57 seconds; Catlett’s time was 1 minute and 3 seconds and Marshall 1 minute 56 1/2 seconds. Amissville boys time was 1 minute 10 1/2 seconds. Warrenton also was victorious in the target fire, extinguishing the blaze in 1 min. 9 sec. as compared to Catlett, 1 min.32 1/4 sec! Marshall 2 min. 18 1/2 sec; and Amissville 1 min.32 sec. In this contest firemen were penalized if pressure was over 65 pounds. Catlett took the dressing contest after tying with War.renton. Time on this was Catlett and Warrenton each 27 1/2 seconds; Marshall 33 1/2 and Amissville, 30. In competition to break the tie,' Catlett reduced their time to 25 3/4 sec. and Warrenton to 26 1/4. Firemen had to take off shoes, put on boots, hat and coat and fasten at least three coat hooks. Line up for Warrenton was Aubrey Jenkins, Herbie Teague, George Putnam, Billy Gray and Sonnie Tarr.Catlett team was Bill Parsons, William Miller, BillG.Smith Chancey Grimes and Leroy Wines. ^.Marshall, Reginald Glascock, John Glascock, John Payne, Bud Gray and Harold Sisson. Amissville was composed of Buddy Bywaters, Kenny Bywaters, Ed Flock, Gene Mills and Roger Stover.
