Santa Arrives in
Front Royal Dec. 3
Front Royal Retail Merchants present “A Week-End Christmas Festival". This year Mr. Judson D. Hockman accepted the post as Festival Director, and has promised a most eventful week-end. Santa Claus will arrive in Front Royal on December 3rd at 6;30 p.m. by way of a “Santa Welcoming Parade". Although this, year’s parade will not be as large as in the past two years, many fine fea tures will be seen. The Randolph Macon Academy Band ad Corps, the John S. Mosby Academy Band, Mosby’s Rangetettes,- Warren County High School Band hind Majorettes, and the Criser High School Band will fill the streets with Christmas Music. Other units are expected to enter. In the Float Division, the Jaycee'sof Front Royal will enter their Nativity Scene Float, which has been a prize winner for many years and does much to relay to all, the true Spirit of Christmas. Other Floats and Novelty units will be seen and following Santa’s arrival on the scene, he will be placed on a pedestal, centered on Main Street, to talk to,Children. At this point, the Kiddies will be given candy and promises of a “Happy Christmas if they are good boys and girls". On Friday, December 4th, Parents may leave their children at a“Free Movie" which will be shown at Pitts Park Theatre in Front Royal at 4;00 p.m. The movie will feature one and a half hours of Cartoon Fun, and Santa wil^ make a personal appearance. Free candy will be given out after the show. On Saturday, December 5th, everyone is invited to “Shop Front Royal Day". With 17 Days left to shop, merchartts will be offering many bargains and specials. Plans for festivities of the day are still in the planning stage and will be publicized later.
