The Sears Roebuck Foundation 4-H pig chain awards meeting was held at the HyWy Restaurant in Front Royal November 18. A sumptious banquet preceded the present ing of awards,
James R. Jenkins, son of Mi; and Mrs. Jerry Jenkins, of Woodville was first place winner. Jean Sisk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sisk Sperryville, placed second. Ad ditional winners were Janet Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Yates, James C. Jenkins, son of Mr. and'Mrs Ennis Jenkins and Linda Jenkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Jenkins, all oLSperry ville.
The Front Royal Sears Roebuck store was host for the awards dinner, and Mrs. Bessie Miller, manager, presented checks and ribbons to the participants.
The foundation pig chain pro vides better quality breeding and marketing of hogs in the county through 4-H ownership Each year five qualified boys or girls in a community are given Yorkshire gilts which they raise. The sow! are then bred and from the brood of pigs they return one animal to the pig chain to be given to another 4-H’er the following year. This is the eighteenth year
