Lt. Gen. Daniel Noce of Cast leton, Va. has been presented a life membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers. The presentation was made at the banquet meet ing of the Virginia Association held Friday, December 4 at the Hotel Jefferson in Ricl> mond. The honor was bestowed upon Gen. Noce in recognition Qf. outstanding work on both military and civil projects.
Gen. Noce was graduated from United States Military Academy and received his degree in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of j Technology. He engineered the first cutoff on the Mississippi River between Memphis and Vicksburg.
Gen. Noce has combined his engineering knowledge with his farming and used these same techniques on Battle Run which babbles through his 1200 acre farm. He straightened the channel to prevent erosion of fertile bottom land. Lt. Governor Mills Godwin was principal speaker at the dinner which was attended by Association members and cadets from Virginia Military Institute.
