“Year in and year out, December is a dangerous traffic month, with more people killed throughout the nation on Christmas Eve than on any other day of the year," said Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State Police and Chairman of theGovernors Highway Safety Committee, as Virginia fatalities continued to mount and approached the all-time high erf 1,100 killed in 1941. He gave last December’s score for Virginia as 85 killed and 3,547 injured, with a total of 11,208 reported crashes. Christmas week alone saw 24 deaths.
