health education is being urged to combat inferiour health habits and harmful practices among students in elementary, junior and senior high schools. Present health instruction is generally either inadequate or non-existent. High school students, informed on many academic subjects are illiterate when it comes to health matters. Some 70 percent of senior students said that flouridation of drinking water is done to purify it for drinking purposes. They believe that chronic diseases are contagious, veneral diseases are inherited, and that unrefrigerated chicken salad is not a potential source of food poisoning. Perhaps the schools alone can not do the job needed to improve the health of youth; if so, what should you and I be doing about it?
