Minor Accidents
Several accidents, only minor, and a hit and run collision have occurred in Rappahannock County since last reporting. The hit and run crash occurred Monday morning on Route 211 in the center of Amissville. According tp Trooper K. L. Miller, Barbara Sue Lane of Woodbridge driving a 1955 Chevrolet owned by Lawrence E. Madison, also of Woodbridge, side-swiped a 1963 Buick owned and operated by Courtland Samuel Randall of Silver Spring, Md. , The Randall vehicle was head ing west when the other vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction crossed the center of the highway and struck it. The Madison vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the accident. However quick-thinking bystanders took down the license number of the fleeing car and Trooper Miller was able to contact the offenders the following day. Barbara Sue Lane, 16, had three charges placed against her; hit and run, failing to drive to the right of the center of the highway and driving without an operator’s license. Madison was charged with hit and run and allowing an unlicensed person to drive. John Patrick Lane, father of the young girl and an occupant of the vehicle, was charged with hit and run.
