Trooper Miller expressed great appreciation to Mrs. Ruth Corbitt of Amissville who was following the Madison vehicle and took down the license number and to E. L. Weakley, also of Amissville, who followed the vehicle as it sped away from the accident scene and noted the license. The officer said there was mry little damage to the madison car, and without the license number it most probably would not have been found. He estimated the damage to the Randall car at more than $400.

A single vehicle crash Sunday resulted in a reckless driving charge for Larry Stevens Elkins of Front Royal. Elkins was operating a 56 Plymouth on Route 635 (Hume Road) near Huntly when he dropped his cigaret. He leaned over to pick it up and in so doing ran off the left of the road and struck a tree, according to Trooper J. B. Willis who investigated the crash. Earl Daniel Williams and Charles William Fidler, both of Huntly, who were passengers in the car, s u s t a i n e d lacerations of the forehead. Only one minor collision was reported in Sunday’s heavy traffic in Rappahannock. According to Trooper W. A. Buntin, a 64 Volkswagen operated by John W. Corbett of Takoma Park, Md. was struck in the rear by a 54 Chevrolet operated by Barry S. Hensley of Elkton. The collision occurred at 11 a. m. on Route 211 at the intersection of Route 522 (Massies Corner). The Corbett vehicle slowed to allow another vehicle ahead to make a left turn and was struck by the Hensley car. Damage to the two vehicles was estimated at $300. Hensley was charged with following too closely, said Trooper Buntin. On October 15 at 6;35 a. m. on Route 729 Mrs. Olive B. Williams of Amissville operating a 63-64 Rambler s t a t i on wagon was pulling from her driveway onto the highway when she was struck by a 56 Chevrolet operated by Mrs. Hazel P. Cooke of Amissville. Visibility from the driveway was poor because of fog, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin. Damage to the cars was estimated at $450. No charges were made.
