On October 1 the estimate or Virginia’s corn yield rose tc 68 bushels per acre, a record high. This should result in a production of 38,012,000 bushels -- Va. Crops and Livestock.

The following communication has been received from Bill Thompson Jr., Ass't Coun ty Agent of Fauquier.
Dear Co-Workers: TheFauquier Farm Bureau has been sponsoring slaughter cattle sales at the Fauquier Livestock Exchange in Marshall. These sales started late last fall and were continued through May. Present plans include sales monthly next year if fat cattle numbers are sufficient to justt fy these sales. Our fat cattle feeders have been quite impressed with these sales as a number of buyers have been on hand. Prices have been comparable to Baltimore with less commission and drift bn the cattle sold. The only charge other than regular yardage is a 50C fee per head to defray grading expenses and additional advertising. The cattle are graded before the sale and weighed just before selling. The state graders will be in the area on Friday, October 22nd to help farmers in picking which animals to sell. The sale will be held on October 26 which is a regular sale date. If you have any feeders who are interested, please contact the County Agent’s Office in Warrenton.
