Local Scouts Attend
Weekend Camporee
The Shenandoah Council of Boy Scouts held their fall camporee from Friday afternoon through Sunday at the Isaac Walton League Park on Route 50 near Winchester. A talk by Hon. John O. Marsh, Jr., Congressman from the Seventh District, was a highlight of the gathering. Mr. Marsh encouraged the youth group to continue their work in scouting, saying that this background had been of extreme benefit to him all through his career. He was an Eagle Scout, and he feels that participation in scouting prepares any boy to better understand the world situation.
Over 700 scouts attended the camporee, among them 10 members of Washington Troop 64; Stewart Hawkins, Wade W. Massie, Eddie Huff, Jimmie Jenkins, Page Moffett, all of Washington; William Payne, Daniel Hitt and John Henry Williams, Amissville; Champ Carney, Woodville; and Bill Dodson, Flint Hill.
