Attend ASC Tour
A large group which included farmers, agriculture student^, ASC and Forestry officials attended the soil conservation tour Friday to the farm of Mrs. Lelia G. Noyes atHuntly H. S. Barksdale explained the conservation practices of permanent cover and soil conditioning farm land which had been done on this farm and answered questions asked by the group. State Forester William C. Vernam explained the processes of establishing forests as the group viewed the extensive plantings of white and loblolly pines. Much of this farm had grown up in a wild tangle before the conservation practices were started In }96Ct A wildlife pond is presently in use and another large pond is just ready for filling. The benefits of a soil and water conservation plan were very obvious to those touring the farm.
