Washington, D. C. — Ernest P. Luke, son of Mrs. Ernest Luke of Sperryville, has been promoted to colonel in the U. S. Air Force. Colonel Luke is director of plans at Headquarters, Office of Aerospace Research (OAR), Washington, D. C. OAR is responsible for the total Air Force research program and certain' parts of research programs of other government agencies. The colonel, a graduate of Hampton (Va.) High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. Commissioned through the aviation cadet program, Colonel Luke served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. His wife, Joy, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Turner of 1218 Briercliff Ro^cl
