Chester Gap Carnival
Has Successful Run
The annual four-night firemen's carnival at Chester Gap closed Saturday with a record attendance reported. The cool lng evening breezes of the mountain top were welcome after the searing heat of the days, and believe it or not, sweaters and jackets were in evidence. Miss Joyce Mahoney of Front Royal won the title of Carnival Queen and received her tiara Friday night from the Hon. John O. Marsh, Jr. at the coronation ceremony. Runners-up were Miss Betty Rutherford of Huntly and Miss Sue Pullen, Chester Gap. Prizes were awarded on Sab urday night with the first prize of $500 going to Roger Sager of Woodstock. Second prize, $75 was given Mrs. Gertrude Cameron of Chester Gap and third prize, $25, went to Miss Janet Rappaport of Front Royal. A display of fireworks was enjoyed by many Thursday evening, and each nlgjbt $he carnival barkers competed with the merry music of the
