From the Book...
“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God." (Ps. 46:4)
In this age of materialism, many people have forgotten that “things" cannot satisfy. Material possessions do not bring peace to the heart nor satisfaction to the soul. Jesus said, “A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." Other folks have forgotten that the pleasures of sin are only for a season. They are only temporary. The season will pass and the harvest will be judgment. There is no lasting joy or satisfaction in the life of sin. To refuse Christ is to miss the real purpose of life. But we who believe and have our hope set upon Christ can see ahead to better things. Yes, there is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God! If your life is built around pleasure, material gain, and social prestige, some day your castle will crumble before your eyes. Remember, the wise man built his house upon a Rock. “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." (Ps. 127:1)
