The latest official figures show that pension payments in the past year to people in the local area averaged $628, as compared with the 1962 rate of $548. The rise, 14.6 percent, compares with a rise of 9.9 per cent in the United States and 11.2 percent in the State of Virginia. Now, with more people participating and with pension checks running larger than before, the amount of money flowing into the community has become of greater importance to the local economy. A further Increase in benefits is in prospect. Congress has before it an Administration proposal to boost payments by at least 15 percent. Payroll taxes would rise also.
Willi* Chapel Revival
Revival services will be held a t Willis Chapel Methodist Church Huntly, Va. August 21-25. Services will start at 7:30 each evening and the Rev. C. Edward Pruitt, pastor of the church, will be the speaker.
