Many processors will not recommend just thawing at room temperature in the plastic wrap because temperature can get high enough for bacteria to multiply rapidly. With the paper bag, the turkey is kept in its plastic wrap in addition to being placed in the brown bag. With this “double protection1' the atmosphere inside the bag will be only slightly warmer than that atmosphere in the refrigerator. With this method 12-16 hours thawing time should be allowed. Next time you thaw a turkey try this way, you'll find it’s more convenient than thaw lug in a refrigerator or under tap water.
Johnson Reunion Scheduled
A reunion of the "Red Oak Johnsons* will be held Sunday, August 27, 1967 at the Sperryville fire hall located on U. S. Route 211 west of Sperryville. This is an annual event with all family members bringing lunch and enjoyng festivities.
