Injuries Minor in
Traffic Crashes
A number of traffic crashes occurred in Rappahannock during the past week, though no serious injury resulted in any of them. Two vehicles were involved in a collision at Rediviva on Route 211 at the intersection of Route 622 Saturday about 8:45 p.m. A 60 Plymouth operated by John William Kendall Jr. and owned by John Kendall of Washington, Va. stopped to allow other vehicles to make a turn, the Plymouth was struck in the rear by Mary Ann Leake of Sperryville operating a 57 Ford, according to Trooper J. B. Willis. Miss Barbara Jenkins, a passenger in the Kendall car, received a bruised right knee and a whiplash. Miss Leake was charged with reckless driving, said the officer. On Sunday morning at 2 a.m. Larry Edward Tolliver of Elkton, operating a 62 Corvair, lost control of the vehicle, struck a bank and spun around in the road. This crash occurred on Route 211 just east of Washington, Va. The operator was charged with reckless driving, said investigating officer J. B. Willis.
Harvey Linwood Ambrose of Fredericksburg was charged with reckless driving after he lost control of a 61 GMC tractor-trailer he was operating and crashed into a bank and through a fence near Castleton last Wednesday, August 9. According to a report filed by Trooper R. M. Dodson, the wreck occurred on Route 617 less than a mile from Castle-j ton. The rig was owned by j Hilldrup Transfer andStorage Co., Inc. of Fredericksburg and damage was estimated at I $1,000.
