Beauty Pageant Planned
The Rappahannock Jaycees ' announce plans for the annual Beauty Pageant which will be held again this year in April. Jim Willis, who has been appointed chairman of the event, says details of the pageant will be released soon. Young ladies from the ages of 4 to 19 should be keeping this in mind. A school scholarship is awarded as grand prize in the teen group.

The Piedmont Vocational School, located on highway 15 between Orange and Culpeper, will have registration for its second semester evening classes on Saturday morning,1 January 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and Tuesday evening January 30, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The following classes are planned to meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings: Adult Basic Education - This course is offered free of charge and is intended to teach adults the basic fundamentals of reading, writing and arithmetic from the 1st to 8th grade levels. High School Intensive Review Courses-This course is Intended to prepare the adult who has not finished high school for the taking of the High School Equivalency Examination. On the successful passing of this examination, the student will be awarded a High School Equivalency Certificate. This course will cost $14.00. Typing - Cost of course, $12.00 , Shorthand - Cost of course $12.00 Arts and Crafts-Costs of course, $12.00

Furniture Repair and Refinishing-Cost of course, $12.00 In addition, there will be a small fee for the texts and materials lised. During the first semester’s operation of the Piedmont Vocational School, over 169 students were enrolled. Some adults who could not read at the beginnings of the year now can read the newspaper. Some adults have learned to type to qualify them for better jobs. The high school students take their equivalency exams this month.
Rappahannock Rescue Squad took Harold Brown Estes to Culpeper Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon. That night Mrs. Lou Pohler was taken to the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. Amissville Rescue Squad took Mrs. Paul Smith to Culpeper Memorial Hospital on Friday.
