Sunday Traffic Crash
Seriously Injures One
A series of traffic crashes have occurred in Rappahannock County since Friday with serious injury resulting in one of them. Torn Platt of orlean, recent ly a resident of Washington, Va., sustained multiple injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Route 522 north ol Huntly at 2 a.m. Sunday morn ing. He is a patient in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal with a compound fracture of the lower right leg, fracture of the upper right leg, fractured left arm, acornpound fracture of both jaws and numerous lacerations of his body.
Mr. Platt, operating a I960 Ford sedan traveling south, ran off the left of the highway and struck a tree. He was pinned in the car for a Bout an hour and a half before a ) ^recking crew from Front
ThcjT-ront Royal Fire Company and rescue squads from Flint Hill and Front Royal stood by with the latter taking him to Warren Memorial Hospital.
Two cars collided head on when they met on a hill crest Saturday night on the road in Harris Hollow near Washington. Involved In the crash was Robert Allen Donnelly of lyattsville, Md. operating a >5 Chevrolet and a 64 Pontiac convertible driven by Henry Nicholson of Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Virginia Nicholson, a passenger with her husband, sustained lacerations of the forehead and face and was taken by auto to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal where she was treated and released.
Both drivers were charged with falling to drive to the right of the road. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $1,000.
Harlier Saturday evening on the Rock Mills Road, Route 622, a coll ision occurred when one car skidded into another on the icy road. Mrs. Delia Starks Clark of Fairfax operating a 67 Chevelle skidded into a 66 Volkswagen driven by Juergin George Preislerof Arlington. There were no injuries, no charge sand damage was estimated at $100 to the Preisler car and $25 to Clarks Trooper w. A. Buntinwasthe investigating officer in the threp crashes. .A two-car collision occurred Friday morningX mile west of Amissvllle on Route 211 involving county residents.
Charlie Compton of Amissville, operating a 1967 Ford, was struck by Mrs. Marta A. U. Tholand of Piedmont Farm, Sperryvllle driving a 64 Buick. The Compton car had enterled the highway from Route 645 and was traveling east when he was struck by Mrs. Tholand, also proceeding cast. She was charged with reckless driving. Monday morning, January 22 a single-vehicle crash occurred near Ben Venue on Route 211. Roger Lee Stover of Amissvllle ran off the right of the highway, through a fence
was able to free him.
