OBITUARIES

Willie (Shack) Hunter

Willie (Shack) Hunter died January 31, 1968 at Newton Baker Hospital, Martinsburg, W. Va. at the age of 79. He was born May 3, 1888 in Front Royal and moved to Washington, Va. in 1917. A World War I veteran he was a member of Puller Post# 174 and also of Elk Lodge #486 in Front Royal. His wife was the late Margaret Ray Hunter. Survivors include 7 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Stewart of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Wilson and Mrs. Hazel Coaxum of New York, Miss Willa Hunter, Washington, D. C., Mrs. Francis Riddick of Norfolk, Mrs. Margaret Freeman, Washington, Va., and Mrs. Joyce Beckborn of Tampa, Fla. Also two sons, Charles Hunter of New York and Edward Hunter of Baltimore, Md., 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
