Upsets Jaycees
Rappahannock County High School Faculty made their ba& ketball debut a successful one by upsetting the local Jaycees 53-49, at the high school last Friday night. The game was played before a crowd of 350 cheering fans who seemed to enjoy watching the “old boys* ramble up and down the hard wood. The game started out as a nip and tuck affair with the faculty holding a slim 19-18 half time lead. The Jaycees behind the playmaking of George (Scooter) Davis and scoring of Sonny Anderson and Irvin (The Stilt) Kenion, opened up a ten point lead 37-27 in the early moments of the fourth quarter. The teachers then made their move behind the ball-hawking defense of F. S. (Scrambler) Boze and Dennis (The Menace) Wingfield. They outscored the Jaycees 26-14 in the final quarter to sew up the victory. The faculty’s offensive punch was supplied by Dave (Shot Gun) Layman and C. J. (The Hawk) Fetchero with 29 and 16 points, respectively.
