:risis one of the two main reasons Red Cross is conducting in 1968 its largest fund campaign since World War II. The other reason is its heavy expenditures in pro viding services to U. S. military forces in Vietnam and elsewhere. Pillow related what he called an unsual but by no means exceptional example of how Red Cross can spend its money to get a man back on his feet: A 21-year-old man was critically injured when a recent tornado swept up his car and slammed it back to earth, leaving him with a broken neck and his arms and legs paralyzed. Months of hospitalization and expert medical care restored some of the use of his arms, with the Red Cross covering a substantial part of the expense.
By the time he was discharged from the hospital, the Red Cross had granted nearly $10,600 to the young man and his family.
