Await Open Day
The Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheriesand the Jefferson and George Washington National Forests plan to stock 509,150 trout prior to the opening of trout season at noon, April 6, Commission Fish Division Chief Jack Hoffman reports. Over 200 streams will receive allocations of the catchable size tourt during the pre-season stocking period. The Commission plans to continue its 8 month stocking plan again this year due to the enthusiastic response of anglers who enjoyed good trout fiphing well into November last year. The number of streams stocked will shrink to those few that maintain enough cold flow for trout during the hot summer months, then will expand to include other streams again in the fall when waters cool. Fish stocked late in the year are a bonus and do not require any reduction in the number available for early season stocking. Initial stocking will include
