Sergeant Retires

Army Staff Sergeant Calvin B. Racer of Washington, Va. recently retired after nearly 22 years of service. His last assignment was at Fort Knox, Ky. where he was an instructor in Company B. 3rd Battalion, School Brigade. He was an instructor in the Armor School's Communication Department and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal upon his retirement from active duty. S/Sgt. Racer distinguished himself by outstanding performance of duty from January 1967 to February 1968. His comprehensive knowledge of communication equipment, superior instructor ability and dedication to purpose greatly improved the quality of instruction within his branch and promoted student learning and class participation in his areas of instruction. He entered the Army in April 1946 and completed basic training at Ft. Gordon, Ga.
