God, give us men. A time like this demands

Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and steady hands—

Men whom the lusts of office does not kill,

Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy;

Men who possess opinions and a will;

Men who have honor; Men who will not lie;

Men who can stand before a demagogue and dam his treacherous

Flatteries without winking,

Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog

In public duty and in private thinking

For, while, the rabble with their thumb-worn Creeds, their large professions and their little

Deeds, mingle in selfish strife, Lo Freedom Weeps, Wrong, rules the land, and waiting Justice sleeps.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip F. Moore have returned to their home in suburban Philadelphia after spending a week in their Blue Ridge Estates summer home. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Moore’s sister Mrs. Shirley Shelton and their houseguest Mrs. Olive Schaper of Hollywood, Calif. T/S and Mrs. Robert D. Shelton and family and Mrs. Louise Kreidemacher of Dover, Dela. were recent visitors at Moore Mountain Lodge in the Blue Ridge Estates subdivision. Mrs. Bessie Parks and her mother Mrs. M. M. Chastain spent last Sunday in Alexandria. Mrs. May belle Gilkey and Kelly, Mrs. Iva Williams and Mrs. Marcelle were visitors last Wednesday in Winchester.
