The next morning I had tc satisfy my mind that my reservations for the five day Parlor Car Tour had been made When I called the company’! office in the Jack Tar Hotel I was told the reservation had beer established. After breakfast Mr. X gave me directions to reach the Hilton Hotel to get the bus foi the three hour city tour. Then 1 was on my way.
After I had gotten my place or the bus a lady asked if she could occupy the seat by me. She wae from Australia, older than I and she had been traveling alone since March. I was just amazed. She was on her way home. She wai staying at the El Cortez and was also booked for the Parlor Cai Tour. Thus I learned that no one is actually traveling alone.
This city tour included crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, the world’s tallest and largest single span suspension bridge. It was built at a cost of $35,500,000. At last I was getting one of my desires fulfilled. We stopped at Mission Dolores founded in 1776. Other places and views included Bay Area from Twin Peaks, lovely homes and gardens in exclusive St. Francis Wood and Sea Cliff, Golden Gate Park and its famous Steinhart Aquarium. Then we went to the world renowned Cliff House overlooking Seal Rocks and the Pacific. Here we got lunch. After lunch we saw the Golden Gate from Land’s End, the Presidio Military Reservation, Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz Island, Civic Center, Fisherman’s Wharf and finally crossed the Golden Gate Bridge again. We reached the Hilton just in time for me to get a ticket and a us for the three and one half niles tour to Muir Woods, the Giant Redwood trees. This bus vas supposed to get back to the
