Amissville HD’ers
Install Officers
Officers elected to head the Amissville Homemakers Club for 1969 were instilled Monday evening at the regular December club meeting which was combined with the annual Christmas dinner and party. There were 21 of the club’s 28 members present for the dinner meeting.
Following dinner Mrs. Juanita Settle was installed as president and will be assisted by Mrs. Mary Priest as vice president. Mrs. Omega Hitt is the corresponding secretary and Mrs. Alice Lawrence is secretary. Mrs. Katherine Riley will act as treasurer. The new officers were installed by Mrs. F. L. Bowey who is County Chairman.
Mrs. Dottie Settle, outgoing president, who had served two years in that capacity, expressed profound thanks to the group for its staunch support and avid participation during her tenure of office. She complimented them for being cited the outstanding club of the county and best achievement night exhibit for both of these years. Mrs. Katherine Riley and Mrs. Jean Burner were given awards for perfect attendance this year. This is the second consecutive year Mrs. Riley has received this award. Mrs. Frances Terhune led the Christmas devotions and Christmas carols were sung by the group. Other songs and rounds were sung, games played and gifts exchanged.
Announcement was made of the change in meeting dates. Meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month instead of Monday. The January meeting will fall on January 2 and begins at 7:30 p.m. New yearbooks were available for all members.
